What are Varicose Veins?

What causes them?
Normal veins become varicose veins when the one-way valves inside them start to leak. This can happen in a number of ways. For some people, it just runs in the family. For others, it could be a result of pregnancy, trauma, or being overweight. It can also be caused by jobs which require sitting or standing all day.
