Dr. Mark McQuaid is board certified in General Surgery and has extensive experience in General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Phlebology (the specialty of vein care.) With more than three decades of clinical experience and thousands of vein procedures performed, Dr. McQuaid is known for his diagnostic expertise, industry acumen, and patient-first approach. He is an active member and diplomat of the American Vein and Lymphatic Society, certified by the Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine, and stays current with the latest technologies and treatment protocols in the field.
Dr. Mark McQuaid received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Texas in Austin and his medical degree (MD) from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He trained in General and Vascular Surgery at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. During his chief resident year, he was the Outstanding Resident in Laparoscopy where he focused on advanced laparoscopy including laparoscopic herniorrhaphy, anti-reflux procedures, and others.
Dr. McQuaid started his surgical practice upon returning to North Dallas in 1996. He has practiced all aspects of general surgery, vascular surgery, laparoscopy, corrective surgery for venous disorders and varicose veins, spinal exposure, and endocrine surgery. As his interests focused on vein problems, he discontinued these and now focuses on complete vein care only.
Dr. McQuaid takes great pride in providing a warm, comfortable, and caring environment during the process of caring for his patients. He founded McQuaid Vein Care in 2008 as an independent physician practice to better impact patient results and satisfaction. His partnerships with various hospital systems emphasize his commitment to following stringent quality requirements.
Dr. McQuaid is board certified in General Surgery and became a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He continues to adhere to their strict guidelines for ongoing education, high practice standards, and ethical conduct. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine, and his society memberships include the American Vein and Lymphatic Society, the Collin County Medical Society, and the Texas Medical Association. He has been voted one of the best doctors in the Dallas area by his physician peers on multiple occasions.
Dr. McQuaid has distinguished himself as a leader in the medical community. He has held the positions of Chief of Surgery, Director of Trauma, President of the Medical Staff, Chair of the Quality Committee, and Member of the Medical Board and the Board of Trustees.
Dr. McQuaid makes his home in Frisco, where he lives with his wife, Martha, and their two boxers. They take great pride in their two children, Michael and Jessica, and are now happy grandparents to two toddlers. He enjoys family time, playing guitar, outdoor activities, and fishing. Fluent in Spanish, he enjoys treating his many Spanish-speaking patients.
Colleen Afadama DNP, APRN, FNP-C
Colleen Afadama DNP, APRN, FNP-C joined McQuaid Vein Care in January 2024, bringing over a decade of nursing experience and a commitment to compassionate patient care. She provides clinical care and assists in venous procedures. She is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner and Registered Phlebology Sonographer. Colleen received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Oklahoma City University and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oklahoma University Health Science Center. Outside of her professional life, Colleen enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and reading.
Julianne Fink PA-C
Julianne Fink PA-C joined McQuaid Vein Care in 2020. She provides care to patients in clinic and offers certain procedures such as VeinGogh. She attended Texas A&M University and went on to obtain her MSPAS from Bethel University in Tennessee. When not at the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing tennis, baking, traveling, and reading.
Alexandria “Ali” Johnson PA-C
Alexandria “Ali” Johnson PA-C joined McQuaid Vein Care in November 2022 and provides patient care in the clinic setting. She attended Hawaii Pacific University and Texas Tech University for her undergraduate degree and obtained her MSPAS from Texas Tech University HSC. She enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, hiking, and spending time in her garden and on the beach.
